To qualify for this position you must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Massachusetts; BSN preferred. A minimum of 2+ years of relevant critical care experience is a requirement. ACLS also required. This position is not available for New Grad RNs.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The staff RN under the supervision of the Clinical manager and Director performs/supervises in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. The professional staff nurse pr! actices in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association scope and Standards of Practice, Quality Caring Model and professional practice model at Lowell General Hospital . Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care .

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice by maintaining current licensure and qualifications. Documentation validates 80% of monthly safety and mandatory education within assigned
time frame, 100% of mandatory education completed within evaluation period.

Maintains a safe care environment for patients, families, and co-workers. Documents compliance with National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) processes as appropriate in the medical record with two or fewer episodes’ of non-compliance by chart audit. Is able to discuss NPSG processes implemented at SJCH with Director or designee.

Attends 8! 0% or more staff meetings and reviews information disseminated via Grou! pWise.

Shows progress in meeting personal and professional goals mutually agreed upon with the Department Director/designee at the time of previous performance appraisal.

Demonstrates participation on unit based council, in unit based quality/safety initiatives and in meeting unit/hospital goals by actively participating in Unit Performance Improvement activities.

Evaluates own practice and participates in opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Demonstrates basic clinical skills. Completion of 100% of Nursing and unit specific orientation, and 100% of annual competencies within annual evaluation period.

Attends one or more unit in-services per quarter

Qualifications:
Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Massachusetts
BSN Preferred
Minimum of 2+ years relevant critical care experience
ACLS Required
