Health Service provides primary care to undergraduate and graduate students in a m! ultidisciplinary setting. Our team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychiatrists, medical assistants, lab technicians, drug and alcohol counselors, social workers, mental health counselors and support staff. Duties of the registered nurse include direct patient care that utilizes many skills, especially assessment and communication. Patient teaching, both informal (at the time of visit) and through planned outreach programs, provides a mechanism to contribute to the student's overall education. Relevant topics for this teaching include women's health issues, sexual assault, HIV, Gay/Lesbian/Transgender issues, substance abuse, ETOH abuse, just to name a few.

The Registered Nurse is expect! ed to be a member of a clinical team. He/She must be able to f! unction independently, communicate well with students, parents, peers, support staff and management. The ability to efficiently triage, prioritize, initiate and follow through with treatments is expected. Working in travel clinic, administering immunizations and allergy injections safely are all aspects of this position. IV insertion skills would be helpful. Strong computer skills are also essential to work with the electronic medical system we are now using. The Registered Nurse will also assist the clinical staff and ensures the efficient flow of patients through the department.
Basic Requirements:
- Must possess RN license
- Minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care
- Must possess BLS certification
- Triage/phone triage experience, strong computer skills are required
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and the ability to communicate well with a diverse, college age population are also required
- Restocking room with medical supplies requires the ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Must successfully complete all appropriate background checks as required
Ambulatory care or emergency nursing experience is desirable. Telephone triage. IV insertion skills a plus. Also administering allergy serum and immunization would be a plus.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
A rotating schedule of working the following shifts: Monday through Thursday 8am-4 pm, 9am-5pm, 10:30 am-6:30 pm. Saturdays 10:30am -5:30 pm.(usually this would be 1x a month). Also occasionally holiday work is required (we are open on many Monday holidays, e.g. Columbus Day, and we take turns rotating through these holidays. We are closed on all major holidays). This is an academic school year position consisting of 40 weeks (Mid August-mid May).Position is fully benefitted.
