Required Skills:
The Clinical Lab Systems Applications Analyst is a system and business analyst position primarily responsible for the coordination and support of the following DFCI Sunquest Lab systems: Sunquest Lab application and Collection Manager. S/he will also assume responsibility for end-user support including handling support calls and conducting training and educational programs for the Lab and clinical department end users. Work responsibilities also include business and system analytic work and support for on-going system operations for the Clinical Lab Systems team and across other teams and systems.

  • Completion of a 4-year undergraduate degree program strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of related experience required.
  • Experience with the Sunquest Laboratory system required.
  • Strong PC skills required; knowledge of PC applications, e.g., Micros! oft Office Suite required; proficiency in Microsoft Project pr! eferred, but not required.
  • System integration/interface experience (e.g., HL7) a plus, but not required.
Laboratory System Specific Duties:
  • Maintenance and support of system and device interfaces to/from the Sunquest Lab System.
  • Liaison with other IS groups or business departments for system and interface troubleshooting and support.
  • Interact with laboratory staff, administrative staff, nurses, and other clinical staff for Sunquest and Collection Manager.
  • Provide direct user support (in person and/or over the phone) during posted support hours, execute back-up plans for system downtimes, and report/respond to user issues as needed.
  • Maintenance of Sunquest, including but not limited to daily maintenance reports, new requests, and modifications to printer definitions and location dictionaries.
  • Monitoring and management of Sunquest interfaces.
  • Manage and maintain Sunquest and Collecti! on Manager security access (roles and user accounts).
  • Assistance in preparing and executing system upgrades and fixes and patches for Sunquest Laboratory and Collection Manager.
  • Provide end user training for the Sunquest and Collection Manager.
  • Handle support calls from end-user calls and resolve issues for the Sunquest Laboratory and Collection Manager.
  • Work with vendor(s) to obtain system options/information, and resolve issues.
  • Creation and upkeep of system documentation related to procedures for system maintenance, standard operating procedures and end user materials.
  • Data analysis and creation of ad-hoc reports for Lab processes & data analysis.
  • Continued development of system knowledge via on-line resources, Sunquest user support groups, etc.
Other General Duties:
  • Work closely with end-users to identify problems/gaps, define business needs, and develop IT strategies and solut! ions.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with an under! standing and adherence to priorities.
  • Conducts informal and formal meetings both internally in IS and with business user.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate test case needs, create test scripts, and execute testing in an integrated environment.
  • Provide quality customer service including: timely responses, on-going communication/ feedback, and follow-through with customers/peers.
  • Identifies and appropriately communicates problems, probable causes, operational impact, and offers possible solutions/recommendations for resolution.
  • Knows when to seek and accept guidance from those with advanced experience or knowledge.
  • Possesses strong teaching abilities for end-user training &/or providing guidance for new staff.
