The Heart and Vascular Department brings together expert cardiologists, cardiac and vascular surgeons, and the latest technology and advances in medicine to provide a full range of care for your heart problems. The Cardiac Surgery Program is a national leader in bypass cardiac surgery and aortic valve repair surgery consistently ranking in the top percent of heart programs.
Procedures are the most technologically advanced operating rooms in the region. Follow-up care is provided in a state-of-the-art cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In the ICU, nurses trained in taking care of heart surgery patients provide the specialized care needed to recover quickly.
Summary:
Provides acute and critical care management of adult H&V patients incl! uding recovery of adult patients after heart surgery.
Cond! ucts comprehensive health assessments, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of complex responses of individual, families, and communities to actual or potential health problems.
Formulates clinical decisions to manage acute and chronic illnesses and promote wellness.
Integrates education, research and management, leadership and consultation into clinical role and functions in collegial relationships with nursing peers, physicians, professionals and others who influence the health care environment.
36 hours per week 3 x 12 shifts. Primarily nights with occasional day rotation. Scheduled day includes Sunday nights weekly. No weekend rotation with rotating holiday schedule.
Qualifications:
MSN degree with current Massachusetts license registration required.
Graduate of approved Nurse Practitioner program with certification in acute care.
Prior critical care and cardiac surgery NP experien! ce required.
Management of IABP and cardiac mechanically assisted patients.
12 lead ECG and telemetry interpretation and current ACLS certification required.
Cardiac / Cardiac Surgery ICU experience with prior VAD, ECMO & IABP patient management preferred.
Proficiency in invasive procedures (chest tube insertion; arterial and central line insertion; IABP removal) necessary.
Cardiac OR 1st assist preferred.
