Under the general supervision of a physician, the Nurse Practitioner for Critical Care is responsible for providing varied medical services, including: obtaining complete med! ical history and performing a physical examination; ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan; prescribing and/or dispensing medication; assist/perform invasive procedures; counseling patients and families. Integrates education, research and management, leadership and consultation into clinical role and functions in collegial relationships with nursing, physicians, professionals and others who influence the health care environment. The Nurse Practitioner understands the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the Nursing Services and provides for their implementation.
Graduate of an accredited and/or approved Nurse Practitioner basic program. Current license as an RN and Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Current BLS and ACLS certification required. A minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care. Good interpersonal and organizations skills are necessary. The abili! ty to work with detailed, confidential material and computer e! xperience is required.
