Location: Wilmington Massachusetts

32 Hour MDS/PPS Nurse

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinates the RAI assessment process with the appropriate participation of health team members assuring adherence to State, federal, Medicare and any regulatory guidelines.
2. Review policies and procedures relating to MDS, transmission, care planning and participate in making recommended changes.
3. Ensure that incomplete records/charts ar! e returned to appropriate department for correction in relation to MDS/care planning process.
4. Coordinates electronic transmission of MDS data to State, Medicare.
5. Assists MDS Director in devising and implementing documentation systems which provide accurate and complete data to use for MDS completion and care planning.
6. Works closely with Business Office staff to assure completeness of MDS information for billing purposes/RUGS levels and therapies.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Resident assessment, leadership and management skills.
2. Strong physical assessment skills and knowledge.
3. Ability to work in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork.
4. Genuine interest and liking of older people.
5. Ability to handle confidential information.
6. Ability to learn, understand, and follow policies and procedures.
7. Fluent in the pathophysiology of common clinical problems in a geriatric population and the treatment moda! lities and the standards of practice associated with various t! reatment modalities.
8. Understands the relationship between treatment modalities and the costs associated with care.
9. Working knowledge of reimbursement including the RUGs system, Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care.
10. Knowledge of billing systems.
11. Knowledgeable of rules governing completion, data entry and transmission of the MDS to meet clinical, reimbursement, and the regulatory requirements.
12. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and be accurate in job details.
13. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
14. Ability to assume responsibilities without direct supervision.
15. Basic computer knowledge.
16. Follow organizational/departmental policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING

1. Currently licensed RN/LPN within the State of Massachusetts.
2. Minimum of 2 years experience working with MDS 3.0.
3. Minimum of 2 years experience in long term care.
