HOURS ARE MON - FRI 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
The VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System is seeking an innovative Assistant Local Service Line Manager Primary Care Physician. The ideal candidate will be easy going, attentive to detail, and able to work in a team setting, and will be board certified in internal medicine or family practice with at least 3 years of experience. This position is located within the Primary Care Service Line, and academic and research responsibilities and opportunities exist. The VACWMHCS has an affiliation with University Mass Medical School as well as an Associate Chief of Staff for Research, and an Research and Development Comm! ittee. The duties of the position include:
50% of time working in Inpatient Mental Health units as a medical consultant and in Urgent Care.
As a medical consultant works with a team of 3 Physician Assistants on 3 units, and
in Urgent Care. He/She works with support staff which includes 2 Registered Nurses, Health Technicians, and clerical support.
50% of time in administrative support to Primary Care Service Line, works with 3 support staff (1 Administrative Officer, 1 Secretary, and 1 Program Support Assistant).

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent! degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic! medicine.
·
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Must be board certified or eligible

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Periods of long standing. Occasional lifting of mildly heavy objects. Sustained periods of sitting at a computer station. Need to meet deadlines, see patients and produce reports in a timely fashion. Need for a high degree of accuracy. Need to adapt to stress and to adapt work plans based on clinical situation.
