SUMMARY: Provide direct! care and assume primary responsibility for clinical management of patients age four through adolescence on the Community Based Acute Treatment Unit. In conjunction with psychiatrist, manage the psychiatric care of patients, both from a medical and psychological perspective. Provide medication management, engage the patient in psychotherapeutic/skill building interventions, provide psychoeducation to the patient and family, and conduct crisis planning. Coordinate medical consultations as needed. Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an Associate or Baccalaureate degree, and a specialty as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Five years of experience prescribing medication to children and adolescents or five years experience as RN Experience with E and M coding guidel! ines for billing Prior psychiatric experience with children an! d adolescents is preferred
LICENSURE: Advanced practice degree (APRN, CRNP, MSN-FNP, PMHNP, GNP, ANP, CNS, PA-C) Certification with ANCC or ANA Must have an unrestricted Massachusetts license as an APRN, CNS or in the process of obtaining this Must have prescriptive authority and DEA number
SKILLS REQUIRED: Must be proficient in reading comprehension Must be proficient in oral comprehension â€" clear and concise communication Critical thinking and problem solving skills Sound judgment and decision making abilities Exceptional customer service Ability to acknowledge social perceptiveness
