Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer and route phones calls.
- Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports and other correspondence
- Print and distribute documents as needed
- Scan and file documents according to company procedure
- Maintain documents and records.
- Review and update documents for plan check related processin
- Create templates for use by other personnel
- Provide assistance to permit applicants related to permit processes, and form and document requirements in-person, by phone, and other means.
- Check documents for validity, accuracy, and completeness of information.
- Receive and process plan review and permit fees.
- Process transactions related documentation and generates reports.
- Communicate with applicants on plan check status.
- Process plan check permit documents for filing and distribution.
- Enter permit data into computer systems.
- Maintain tracking system for all plans submitted from time of permit application receipt to permit issuance.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid California State Class C Driver’s License is required.
- Proficiency in MS Word, and MS Excel is required.
- International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician Certification is required to be obtained within 6 months from the start date (Preferred)
- Experience as a Permit Technician with a private or public agency (Preferred)
- Experience as permit expeditor (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Ability to process various permit applications is required.
- Skill in effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to effectively provide customer service professionally and courteously to the public.
- Knowledge of principles of record keeping and records management.
- Skill in data entry and mathematical calculations.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software such as Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work cooperatively and productively with co-workers and other peers.
