Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Registered Nurses
DEPARTMENT: Nursing
REPORT TO: Nurse Manager
General Summary: The registered nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility is health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve. The registered nurse, within the parameters of his/her generic and continuing education and experience, may delegate nursing activities to other registered nurses and/or health care personnel, provided, that the delegating registered nurse shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the patient outcomes.
The RN provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly, and is also individualized to a! variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sig! ht, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The RN incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice at Spaulding Hospital Cambridge.
Education/Experience Minimums : Graduate of an approved school of nursing

Certification/License Requirements : Valid Massachusetts RN license

Supervisory Responsibility : Registered Nurses, Ancillary staff

Requirements

Maximum weight to be lifted independently 15 pounds
Carrying 10 to 25 pounds, times per hour, and per day

Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes:

Uses a systematic, ongoing, and criterion-based evaluation.
Involves the patient, family, and other health care providers in the evaluation process, as appropriate.
Uses the ongoing assessment to revise diagnoses or problems, outcomes and the plan of care, as needed.
Documents revisions in diagnoses or problems, outcomes, and the plan of care. !

Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice:
