Job Description

We are seeking a Medical Assistant/Secretary to serve as a float supporting our numerous physicians and nurse practitioners for assignments at our offices in Framingham, Marlborough, Natick, Hudson, Westborough, Northborough, Ashland, Hopkinton, Holliston, and Millis. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Assignments are typically known in advance but priorities may require going to a different location than planned as needed. The position will serve in a front desk role answering the phone, scheduling appointments, or performing administrative duties,or may perform medical assisting functions including rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures, and performing phlebotomy. The assignments and needs may vary day-to-day so the incumbent must be comfortable serving in both an administrative or hands-on patient care role. Our perfect candidate is easy-going, flexible, and will! ing to learn and grow. Candidates must have completed a medical assistant course or similar training to be considered. Strong skill in phlebotomy is highly desired. Language skills in Portuguese is preferred. Strong computer skills and exceptional customer service are a must. Must have reliable transportation and be comfortable to drive to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities

Medical Secretary duties include:
Demonstrates courteous professional and cooperative behavior toward patients, visitors, coworkers and physicians in person and on the phone.

Manages physician schedule. Supports and assists all physicians and clinical staff with patient flow.

Responsible for appointment scheduling, patient registration/discharge and

Schedules referral/ancillary appointments. Performs phone duties.

Verifies patient information. Collects appropriate copays, deductibles and other related payments that are due at tim! e of service.

Prepares medical records and documentation. Coor! dinates record release and mail.

Maintains and orders office supplies.

Assists with typing of reports, correspondence and dictation as requested by physicians.

Medical Assistant duties include:
Takes patient history and conducts vital sign checks.

Prepares and maintains treatment rooms.

Assists physicians and nurses with minor diagnostic procedures.

Ensures that lab reports, x-rays and other information are in patient records. Performs routine tests such as phlebotomy, urine collection.

Keys data into the computer to maintain office and patient records.

Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy and completion of a medical assisting or similar training program.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service attitude.
