Overview:
Position Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services to assigned patients specific to age and developmental level under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Maintains treatment environment and supply inventories to support physical therapy services. Teaches PTA interns and new staff members, and participates in program development. Collects Data and reports to Physical Therapist during assessment process. Provides patient treatments as delegated by Physical Therapist. Assists with fabrication of casts, splints, and adaptive equipment as delegated by Physical Therapist. Reports patient responses to treatment and progress toward goals to the supervising Physical Therapist. Documents all findings and services performed in the patient's medial record and appropriate Multi Disciplinary Plan of Care forms. Completes patient documentation according to CHLA policies and procedures. Participates in appropriate patient care conferences as requested. Assists in discharge planning and education of patient and primary caretaker and family. Develops, writes, and instructs patients and families in therapy home programs. Enters appropriate charges for patient services into computer database. Maintains productivity standards, and manages resources in a cost-effective manner. Participates in appropriate continuing education activities and provides inservice training sessions for staff on continuing education courses attended. Assists PT Clinical Instructor with Physical Therapy students by assessing student's treatment skills and giving feedback. Assists in orientation and training of other staff members. Assists in projects related to development of clinical programs and/or accomplishment of area related goals. Assists in Department research projects. Assist with maintenance of work area, orders supplies and equipment to support physical therapy services. Participates in establishing and accomplishing Department goals.

Education/Training Required:
Graduation from an accredited program for Physical Therapy Assistants with an AA degree and successful completion of required fieldwork assignment. License, Registration or Certification Required: Licensure by the Physical Therapy Board of California. Current American Heart Association BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification.

Minimum Experience Required:
Minimum of 24 months experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant I, including one year of pediatric experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, verbally and in writing. Ability to work weekends. Additional competencies may be required by the work location.
Pay Scale Information: USD $52,208.00 - USD $90,178.40

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
