We are looking for a fun, engaging, reliable, and safe individual who loves children and loves the outdoors to lead our small group outdoor nature playgroup. This job will be to play with and guide children ages 3-5 years old.
Our Terrain Program is a four-hour drop-off outdoor forest school program.
- Terrain is a small group, child-led, outdoor exploration and nature play program. Children get to hike, explore, climb trees, pick flowers, watch wildlife, play in the dirt, listen to read-aloud stories, build forts, create stick and rock structures, collect leaves and seeds, run, play, and imagine.
- We want children to savor these precious early years by imagining and exploring the beautiful outdoors. Students will get to enjoy all the different terrains that the park has to offer: open trails, eucalyptus tree groves, working educational farm, flower fields, the beach, and grassy open spaces.
- Our location is along the beautiful Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve, among the majestic eucalyptus and cypress groves and the wildflower fields.
Qualifications:
- You are patient and able to guide young children toward exploration.
- You have 3 references who will validate your track record of being trustworthy, safe, consistent, and nurturing.
- Bonus if you are capable of teaching basic Spanish vocabulary along the journey, but not required.
- You are available Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00am - 1:00pm.
Compensation: $18-25/hr DOE
- Depends on experience.
- Depends on whether we hire you as Head or Assistant Teacher
