Under the direction of the ED Nurse Manager, the ED Support Staff Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the ancillary staff and the operations dir! ectly connected to the functions within their job descriptions. Ensuring optimum patient flow and a perfect patient experience are key goals. Performance improvement activities within the ED Mesosystem are within the scope of the role. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to mentoring, coaching, hiring, orienting, scheduling, evaluating and disciplining when required. Orienting, evaluating and disciplining are coordinated with the ED Education Consultant and the ED Nurse Manager when competency and scope of practice fall within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and additionally as
determined by the ED Nurse Manager. The ED Support Staff Supervisor serves as a role model and resource person for the ancillary staff. The ED Support Staff Supervisor acts as a liaisson with other departments with which the ED closely collaborates such as the Lab and Radiology.
Qualifications
Computer skills, phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, effective verba! l and written communication skills, coaching and mentoring ski! lls. Data Analysis, Performance Improvement skills preferred
Required: Supervisory and health care experience
Preferred: Experience working in an Emergency department
Education/Degree requirements:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Health Care education such as Armed Forces Medic training, Certified
Nursing Assistant, EMT, Paramedic and/or other comparable training and education
Preferred: Bachelor's degree
Licensure, Certifications, or Registration:
Required: BLS (within 6 months of hire)
