The Mental Health Service is seeking to hire a full time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to work in a newly designed Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program for veterans with substance use disorders and other mental health problems. This is an innovative, academically oriented training environment that provides state-of-the-art clinical care that is vital to the care of our nation’s Veterans. On the residential unit, the NP will have responsibility for providing the psychiatric, medical, and psychopharmacological care for veterans participating in a six-week rehabilitative program. The candidate will function as a critical member of a multidisciplinary team, provide comprehensive admission assessments, coordinate the medical care of veterans in the program, and provide individualized medication management services. The candidate will also contribute to the therapeutic psychosocial programming. The candidate will have the opportunity to follow some of these veterans on an outpatient basis and provide psychiatric care. Job Requirements
1. Must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State 2. Master’s degree in Nursing and/or Master’s degree from a Nurse Practitioner program with a BSN (NLN accredited); approximately 2-3 years of successful nursing practice or Post Graduate Nurse Practitioner course with didactic and supervised clinical experience 3. Approximately 2-3 years of successful nursing practice, Mental Health experience preferred. 4. Posses and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body.
