Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC ) is a registered nurse who oversees the day to day patient/staff/provider flow and unit operations for the Intravenous Team/Lab Services. He/she works closely with the Nurse Director ! and Operations Manager of their particular area.
The CNC i! s present on a daily basis and reports to the Nurse Director. Specific duties of the CNC may vary across the different disease programs and clinical areas. The CNC manages the nursing staff, clinic assistants and phlebotomists in the respective clinical area.
Three important overlapping functions of the CNC role have been identified that span both the exam practices and infusion areas. These are:
Triage of care/patient flow/emergencies : Using expert clinical judgment and in collaboration with physician colleagues and other CNC¿s, determines the optimal management of all patients in her respective clinical area. Ongoing communication between CNCs in infusion and exam will occur to determine the most appropriate location for care.
Clinical Resource : The CNC serves as a clinical resource to all those staff in the clinical area and can have direct patient care involvement. Collaborates with Nursing Education in the orientation and training of new an! d/or existing nursing staff and clinic assistants.
Operational Flow : The CNC utilizes situational monitoring and critical thinking skills to maximize flow in a given clinical area. This includes: managing nursing and support staff schedules, anticipating unit needs and mobilizing the appropriate resources as needed, collaboration with physician colleagues, developing strategies for communication of wait times to patients and families and managing conflict.

Job Qualifications

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Baccalaureate degree required; Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
Master's degree preferred.
Certification in Oncology Nursing, OCN, ACON, or CPON strongly preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years oncology experience required, leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
Skilled IV nurse with a minimum of one year of ambulatory nursing management strongly peferred.
Ambulatory operat! ions and excellent patient flow experience required.

1. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
2. Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to make independent decisions.
3. Ability to function in a busy work setting with addressing complex IV needs

Schedule

Full time Monday through Friday.
